Our Services

Stone Soup Community delivers services in a responsible, consistent manner without reference to gender, race, religion, ethnicity or income. There is never a fee for any of our services. We attempt to maximize dollars in the community by networking with other agencies.

Crisis Services

A program for individuals and families facing a “crisis” with basic needs such as housing, utilities, medication, job-related issues, and transportation. We provide emergency assistance through referral, networking, advocating and financial aid. Together clients and volunteers may contact case managers, landlords, trustees and utility companies on behalf of the client. We work with these patrons to resolve the immediate crisis, set goals, and move toward self-reliance.

Budget Counseling

Are you just barely getting by living “paycheck-to-paycheck”?  Do you end up short each month and not all the bills have been paid?  Have you had trouble deciding between “wants” and “needs” each month? A monthly household budget can help. We have a professional budget counselor available to help you set up a budget. Appointments for this free service are available Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - call (574) 246-0364.

Resumes and Job Search

We have one volunteer job search counselor available on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. to help you while you are looking for employment. Walk-ins are accepted if time allows, however it is best to call for an appointment.

Ready for Work Program - Coming Soon!

A program for individuals who have an employment offer but need some assistance with a small item, such as a monthly bus pass until the first paycheck, work boots, uniform, etc.

The goal of this 16-week program is to help you create your own path for making a stable, secure life for you and your family.
